I’ve got a secret. My eyelashes are teeny. They are not big and bodacious like the lashes of my dreams. For years I have curled them, and experimented with a ton of different mascaras. There was a period five years ago when I used to work with fake lashes – both strips and individual ones. It took me forever to apply it properly and then it would only last one evening. Sometimes my real lashes would come off with the fake lashes. It all seemed to not be worth it so I abandoned the whole fake lash thing and decided to just keep trying different mascara brands.
I’ve heard about eyelash extensions for years, but they seemed out of my reach so I waited until the time was right to try them. I got a referral from my manicurist at Tips Nail Bar to see the woman that MTV Makeup Artist Lucky Bromhead swears by – Colleen at Fembotika.
The “After” pic. Long, natural looking lashes.
“Before” pic. Teeny tiny little lashes. Ignore my awkward bangs.
So I headed over there last year and was amazed to find a talented young entrepreneur with a passion for lashes that I have never encountered before. It is simply the best to have a person be totally o.b.s.e.s.s.e.d. about their business and what they do. You know that you are getting great quality and what is the latest and greatest in their industry. Added bonus: she is fun to chat with while taking the 1.5 hours to get your lashes done.
Are you kidding me? These are completely bat-worthy.
When I first went I got a “professional” look that was very nice but didn’t have the super impact that I was hoping for (I was still working f/t in an office and didn’t want to overdue it). Then I went for the DD Fembotika package with a Mink upgrade and got the bang for my buck I was looking for.
The fantastic thing about getting eyelash extensions is that you have these amazing long lashes for about 4-6 weeks that make you feel like a total bombshell every single day. I would literally wake up every day and never feel the need to put on makeup. I used foundation and some blush and that’s all I felt that I needed. Especially during the summer when eye makeup and mascara gets very runny, this is most ideal.
These eyelash extensions cost about $220, take about 1.5 hours to get done and last from 4-6 weeks (depending on how you care for them) but if you wait for a special occasion and go get them done you will never forget the experience. I can’t have them consistently and I wait for big events (like my Jamaica trip, and filming of UNG TV) before I get them … but one day I hope to have them 365. Until then, I have the memory of how they make me feel – like a Sophia Loren type of sex kitten. Seriously.

Gorgeous! I miss lashes – I had them done last year but just recently got lasik done so can't get them again for a while!
I love the lashes!!! I got them done before, but found it hard to keep my hands away from touching them…they ended up falling out and it was a total fail.
