Update (04.19.13): Watch it tonight! Details above.

A week ago I attended the 20th annual Indspire Awards (formerly National Aboriginal Achievement Awards) Show in Saskatoon, SK. I was offered a ticket just the week prior while at the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business gala in Toronto and made a last minute decision to go take it in. I booked a flight and a hotel and booked myself over to Saskatoon and packed my mukluks and I was on my way.

Best Opening

ATCR

I was especially excited about this event because Wambdi Dance was performing to A Tribe Called Red on the big stage.

The performance was more than stellar! Don Bear captured the magic from the balcony in his FB video above, which really gives you an idea of how much the audience was reacting to the Wambdi Dance crew paired with A Tribe Called Red. They loved it! I loved it. The best is when the little girl, Cheyenne, made it on front and center on the stage. She really was the star of the show.

Cheyanne

Cheyanne was so adorable. After the show she came up to me and tugged at my leg. I looked at her and she said “I’m going to write my name for you.” I said “Yes, of course!” She went to her chair and pulled out her pen and post-it notes and wrote her name on one for me and handed it to me. She had been asked by many all night for her autograph so she figured I must want it as well! What a star already. Then I just *had* to have my photo taken with her because clearly she’s going places.

The entire night of being at the Indspire Awards was more than inspiring. It was great to see all the recipients receive their pins and awards and see the high production value of the entire event (go Jen Podemski!). I felt so honoured to be there and to witness it all in person. The show will be broadcast on APTN and Global Television, so stay tuned for the air date. There are some pictures that I took of the awards show here on my Facebook album if you want to check it out. Clearly, I have picked my favourite element of the Indspire Awards. Next year, the show is on my radar and on my “do not miss” event list. Hope to see you there!

This was a fantastic event! My second award show and they never disappoint. Although this time around, the highlight from the night was working up the nerves to meet you.

I am an avid reader of your blog. But I especially like the fact that you name dropped my BFF, Mr. Don Bear, in this post.

Hopefully, we'll meet again :) . Stay Awesome!
