Judi Handelman is the winner for her pitch at Dealmakers Live. I can honestly tell you that I am so proud and happy for her. Shane and I met her at bootcamp for Innoversity 2012 – The Big Pitch and we bonded over burritos. She took home that prize too. We joke about being on the “pitch circuit.” Her pitch is all about a contestant type show for tweens who compete to make their philanthropic dreams come true. A show with a heart. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Congrats Judi!
After Shane and I finished the pitch we got interviewed by Banff World Media Festival staffer and Toronto Blogger and musician (seriously, what can this girl not do?) Nicole aka Miss Late July. I am sure we gave some giddy, awkward answers and pretended to be slick. Looking forward to watching that clip!
Capturing on the glorious energy, we snapped a few pics outside. I think it’s fantastic that we both got to be here at Banff. Shane Belcourt, #UNGTV director, is a rock-star and was at Banff on NSI Totally Television business. Not too bad for a Metis boy. Ha! I met Shane four years ago when he released Tkaronto at ImagineNative Film Festival, I was *mildly* obsessed with the feature and might have been a Tkaronto groupie for a while … It is all set to go for a TIFF Bell LightBox screening as a part of the First People’s Cinema Festival. He clearly has had enough paparazzi for one day
.
Now here is the man who made it all happen. Enter Scott Benzie, the Director of Marketing for Banff World Media Festival and the brains behind the #BlogForBanff competition. I am over-the-top thankful for him for making this dream of coming to #Banff2012 to pitch my show a reality. Lives are changed. Seriously. Grazie Scott!
Off to the Netflix/Spoke Club party for the evening. Look at this gorgeousness. That’s Corrie Sevier right there on the far left. I met him four years ago when he came over to my place for a barbecue after he wrapped a film that he shot with my ex-bf. Such a small world! We got a chance to catch up on the dance floor. And the beautiful woman is Leah Gibson, actor (Arctic Air) and Adam Beach’s girlfriend (sorry to bust your bubble ladies). Adam Beach needs no explanation. He’s going to start filming Arctic Air in Vancouver soon, I am looking forward to watching season 2!
Look who I found at the party … the one and only Casie Stewart. I think we have to travel more together, because she is just one firecracker of good energy!
One final pic with my amazing Associate Producer Agi G., she kept me sane and put together for the Banff adventure. Well that’s a wrap for the event filled day two at Banff World Media Festival! There was a lot going on, so it needed to be broken up in to two posts. Hope you enjoyed it!
