Kinnie Starr 'Kiss It.' Video by hunterG
Earlier this month I had the pleasure of seeing Kinnie Starr perform live right before Jay Manilowski (of Bedouin Soundclash) at the Rivoli in Toronto. It was a short set of about 4-5 songs, and she sang one of her new songs that hasn't been recorded, and it was my favorite.
The song is called "Kiss It" and it's part of a hip-hop project that she is working on called 'Roller Derby.' This project is in response to pornography and it is all about sex from a women's perspective. Don't worry, it's not all Foxy Brown style, it's much more real than that. Although it might has well have been judging by the way those blonde bobbed, Coach canvas carrying girls in the club were reacting to her singing "Kiss it all around, before you go downtown." It was all awkward glances and "oh em gee" moments.
I can't wait for this next project to be revealed, but if you are a big fan like me, you can follow her on her tour via her YouTube channel where she is putting out these short videos, called "The hardest thing about being on tour." I think "Kiss It" might just cause the hardest thing on tour. #JustSaying
