It's hard to pick favorites from Pueblo designer Maria Samora's jewelry line. Every piece is stunning, modern, and of the best quality. Although it is Native, it is necessarily literally translated from the past. That's what makes her great. She offers a fresh perspective and gives the art and fashion world a chance to rethink what they think Native American jewelry is supposed to look like.
Growing up on the Taos Pueblo in New Mexico, her father was a medicine-man and her mother a jewelry maker, so you might say it was in the blood. She is in her early 30s and is a real talent to keep your eyes on. In fact I would say that if you were a Native glitterati that you should most definitely pick up one of these pieces. My absolutely favorite piece is the 'Corndance' collection, just in case you wanted to know ;).

Thank you so much for posting this! This jewelry is beautiful! Especially the summer rain with the turquoise. Wow.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful. The Leaf earings remind me of the lines and designs on most Southwestern pottery.
ReplyDeleteSpirit Fire - I really love it too <3>
ReplyDeleteDJ TR_ONE - yeah it's her vibe but so much more contemporary and fresh IMHO.
