Top Ten Favourite Things of the Decade

So I’ve put together a few things that I truly can’t live without or have discovered along my path in the past 10 years and decided to share with you my Top 10 items. It has made my life more enjoyable and I recommend you get everyone of them for yourselves in 2010. Happy New Year!

1) Microdermabrasion

I love them because they help rejuvenate new skin while exfoliating dead skin twenty times more effective then a facial would. It helps to remove sun-damaged skin and to remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin. Microdermabrasion can also be used for treatment of acne, but must be repeated periodically to be effective. And finally it helps tighten the skin while making your wrinkles less apparent.

They usually take about 20 minutes - 1hour for the treatment depending on if you get a facial with it or not and cost about $75 - $125 but if your thrifty like I am, go to the beauty schools and get one for $30 from a student. Same results, it just might take a little longer.

2) Avéne Beauty Products

Although I'm new to this line, I've had nothing but great skin and because it's hypo-allergenic, it doesn't irritate my skin and there's no harsh perfumes to give me migraines.

3) Mineral Makeup

Loves IT!!! Makes my skin look glowy and fresh, sometimes it comes off as looking oily, but it is a small price to pay for not having TALC and ZINC on my face all day. It covers amazing, has a natural SPF and the best part is, when I’m not in the mood to wash my face before bed or when I come home after a night out partying with my friends and pass out before I had the chance to wipe off my mask, it doesn't clog my skin like MAC makeup used to do, so my skin is thankful.

4) Vibra Slim Machines

I love using the Vibra Slim machines, used to go all the time to a spa and use these machines. They’re not really popular in Canada yet, but its coming and it works. As soon as I can afford one I'm going to buy my own personal unit for my place here's the reasons why I love them:
 - Vibration Therapy does not make you sweat.
 - Vibration Fitness tones and tightens skin.
 - Increases your Strength dramatically in weeks.
 - Increases your serotonin levels which improve your mood and energy levels.
 - Decreases joint pain and blood pressure.
 - Increases your flexibility and balance with Vibration Plate workouts.
All you need is 10 minutes on this machine and its equivalent to a full hour workout.
It even decreases cellulite!

Where else can you burn 600 calories while relaxing or sleeping? You can if you get in one of these saunas. Best part is you don't even need to disrobe, just take off your shoes and jewelry and relax. While you’re at it, the jade rocks that you’re laying on restore your CHI balance, so when you’re finished, your chi is re-balanced. Here's a few of its helpful benefits:
 - Removes toxins
 - Burns calories
 - Improves your skin
 - Relieves pain
 - Strengthens the cardiovascular system
 - Reduces stress and fatigue
 - Strengthens immune system
 - Improves lymphatic circulation
 - Controls excessive Leucorrhea in women (PMS and yeast)
 - Reduces enlarged prostate in men
*Although I don't for see it helping my prostate, cause I don't have one, I am super excited about the PMS part. Oh and did I mention it helps decrease cellulite

6) Platform Heels

I don't think I'd ever be able to wear heels if it weren't for platform heels. This takes away some of the pain from having to walk or stand with your feet so arched. Most women wear them to add height but I wear them to alleviate extra pain in my feet. Being 5'9 flat foot and 6 feet tall when wearing them kind of makes me look like a warrior women as the Toronto average male height is 5'9. Although it was invented more then 10 years ago, I’m sure glad that fashion brought them back.

7) 9700 Blackberry Bold 3G network

Without the access to my emails and Facebook and BB instant messaging, I would feel so lost.

I'm surprised that not more people have these but it's saved me oodles of phone bills and I can travel anywhere in the world and still call you for free as long as I have internet access. Voice over Internet Protocol is the wave of the future seriously; you can even see yourselves while talking with such programs as Skype or Ichat. What a nice way to keep in touch with family and distant lovers, just need to make sure you log off as you  don't want any of your friends watching you do private things while your in a session …

9) Nexus

Having received my Nexus card last Christmas has saved me so much time at the airport and border crossings. I'm surprised that there aren't more people who've applied for one yet. A NEXUS card is the only acceptable alternative to a passport for traveling between the United States and Canada via air. Passengers entering or leaving Canada via participating international airports utilize a kiosk to report to immigration authorities (CBSA or CBP) while an iris scan is used to verify identity. I used to spend 45 minutes or sometimes hours at the border explaining to them why I'm able to live in the USA and Canada. Being treaty Indian gave me that right, but of course there's always an idiot at the border that wants to prove he's mightier then me and gives me a hard time. Now all I need to do is flash my card to the customs officer and all my info is all there on the computer for him. No more having to travel with 20 documents proving that I am more then 51% Indian, it’s 86.9% to be exact as they like to remind me. Now with my Nexus card I get to skip the line and even better, I have my own bridge to cross when I go to Buffalo, how great is that? Best $50 bucks I ever spent.

10) Facebook

Seriously, I would be lost without all my live feed updates. It has helped me reconnect with family and friends from all over the world. I get to talk to my grandma who's in Manitoba, while chatting with my friends in LA, while looking at pictures posted of my 14 & 15 year old nieces boyfriends. I even got cast from a director for a TV series recently thanks to my good friend Lisa Charleyboy who told me about the audition. I ended up tracking down the director via Facebook and asked if I can audition for her. Next thing you know, I'm flying to Montreal for a week to shoot the series.

Thanks for the microdermabrasion tip; I'll try one with a student and see if it's for me. Do you have any recommendations?

  2. Try these one's in Toronto, Avola College, Marvel and George Brown, they all have a aesthetics departement and should be offering Microdermabrasions.

  4. Great list! I've yet to get my Nexus, I'm still on the fence about it. As a flight attendant while on duty I already by-pass the line-ups but I'm sure it would come in handy. Problem is, when travelling with someone who doesn't have Nexus you still have to wait for that someone. Its a maybe for me but you've made me want one:)
    Happy New Year!

  5. Well being a flight attendant doesn't help much when you have to wait in a line up of cars at the border if your crossing by car. In Niagara Falls there's a special Bridge just for Nexus Card holders,, no line ups. And at most crossings there's a special line for Card holders,, so you get to jump ahead... So if that doesn't entice you,,maybe the 1 allowed liquor bottle even for a day trip might get ya!
