Native Movies
Moccasins
My Laurentian chief moccasins of yesteryear are looking pretty ragged. I want an authentic Native made moccasin in black, with fleece lining and possibly with fur. Tall order, I suppose since I couldn't find any online. If you know of some, please send info my way because I just can't find them. These are the exact same as I already have but you know what, they served me well for almost three years. Remember to order a size smaller because moccasins like these are notoriously large (I would be a size 7 in these, if you are wondering). These are from Soft Moc and are only $55 CAD with free shipping available here. Score.
Pearl Earrings
Super classic or super preppy? No matter what your take is on them, I can never go long without a pair. I lost one of the pair that I bought for myself a few years back and have been in mourning ever since. I think basic pearls are a necessity for every women's wardrobe. That is if I ignore the advice of my waxer who says that unmarried women should never wear real pearls because they signal that she is "taken." These hotties are from Birk's and are made from Akoya pearls in 18 kt. white gold and are $255 CAD available here.Kindle
Photo from here
I know that Kindle's are new and most people aren't buying the idea of reading a digital book, but I can't think of anything better. Save trees, have tons of books always with you, and great for traveling. What's not to love? Oh yeah the authenticity of having a real book in front of you. Wasn't that the argument against online magazines and newspapers? Hmm. Anyhow this one is $260 USD and available at Amazon.com here.Aritzia Gift Certificates
Ever since I started working at a premium denim clothing store when I was 15 years old, I have been addicted to them. My dealer for the past oh five years has been Aritzia, where their breadth is great and the depth is almost guaranteed. The next pair I want is a pair of Seven for All Mankind Dojo jeans. They are great with sneakers and will keep me looking cute on campus. They are about $280 CAD.
Montblanc pen
Ooh la la nothings says "successful writer" like a Montblanc pen. I had one last year but in a bold move I gave it back to the donor because I felt like it was the write thing to do (yup it doesn't have to be an engagement ring to feel awkward keeping a gift). So ever since I had the feeling of using one and just randomly pulling it out of my purse to oh you know sign Visa bills now my lackluster hotel pen (albeit a luxury hotel) still doesn't have the same cache. So yeah now I want another one (or two) to keep my moleskin company in my purse. They are about $300 - $330 and can be found in a jewelry store near you.
Black Nappa Mukluks
Yes I know I already have white nappa mukluks, but I need the practical black ones so I can trek around the city in them daily (except for the super-slushy days, I have other boots for those days). These ones are about $330 CAD and I still don't know where you can buy this nappa leather pair in Canada but you can for sure email them at Manitobah Mukluks here.
Digital SLR that shoots HD Video
I really want to get a good manual camera that I can shoot wicked pictures with and begin to experiment with so that my blogging pictures can be awesome and not just lackluster. Plus I want a camera so I can practise and sometimes record auditions and some other random stuff I have in store. This Canon EOS Rebel Tli was one of the top-rated gadgets on Gizmodo so that's good enough for me to know it is a great pic. This one sells for $799 CAD at Future Shop here.
Teeny Tiny Netbook
I have been lusting after a netbook for at least a few months now. But after shopping around, looking at countless reviews online, and even being talked out of buying one at Staples by the salesperson, I have come up empty-handed. You see I really want the smallest one possible (preferably 8" and one that I can actually throw in my purse) and one with some battery life. The best one I came up with so far is from the Sony P Series and comes up at a whopping $1000 USD here. A bit much for a netbook I would say but wow look at the size, it's in red, and it's got some power. Mamma mia, come to mamma ...
Macbook Pro
I need to replace my Macbook circa 2006 that has been on the fritz. This Macbook Pro seems like a good fit. I want to upgrade the Macbook strength but it still will be secondary computer to my iMac (below). Still need a good laptop to take with me on trips and when I need to do larger projects on the go. I like the 13" version. It sell for $1199 CAD here.
iMac 21.5 "
My Macbook circa 2006 is on the fritz and in need of a major overhaul. So is my back from years of hunching over it, and my eye prescription needs an upgrade. So yes I will be making the progression to *gasp* a desktop with a side of Macbook and netbook on the side. I can't quite grasp the idea of the 27" screen yet (remember I am upgrading from a 13" screen) so yes I will be opting for the 21.5" version (which fits nicely in my office armoire). This one is $1599 CAD (1 TB hard drive) on Apple. ca here.
Diamond Stud Earrings
This is another tale of one lost and never replaced. Yes I got a pair for my high school graduation and somewhere along the way I lost one (sorry mom). Then I got them replaced by another donor, but they bought them in a size appropriate for a child of 8 and thus they are lost on my lobe. So I need a hefty pair, since I wear mine almost every day. A classic diamond stud that will last longer than perhaps the stud who bought it (sacre bleu). These are 18 kt white gold (.24) and sold at Birk's for $1250 CAD here.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeez, you gotta short and inexpensive wish list. Good list, none the less. Mine's would literally blow your mind, If dared to post prices. I want all those same DVD's. Long list of Native books, too. Hope you get everything. {=oD
ReplyDeleteGirl.. I do love your style.. yeah, it does sting when taste exceeds budget.. but quality always endures.. Good hunting.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas. Nice blog, by the way, thank you for stopping by my blog and the kind words..

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
SONY has been scoring points in my opinion about it digital reader's advantages over the Kindle.
ReplyDeleteRead the comparisons on Gizmodo (blogged by Jesus Diaz in November) and PC World in the Aug 29 column "Today at PC World."
lol I want to watch Casablanca =D... I love your wish list... I hope you get all of them *wink*
ReplyDeleteHey you!
ReplyDeleteThose Black Nappa Mukluks are smoking HOT! not sure about the Canon. I'm more of a Nikon guy myself. But it will get the job done. ;) The Vaio netbook is awesome and of course anything MAC just Roolz! That Montblanc pen is always a good choice. You can never go wrong with a pen like that.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Mark
Ahh the tech upgrades. I'm running at two years now with my Mac Book Pro, and I've taken really good care of it, but I want to upgrade as well.
ReplyDeleteIf only I could get a raise...

Crazyhorse - thanks for stopping by and checking in :).
ReplyDeleteRick Harp - you are right, I have read the debates. But I don't actually think I will be getting one and if I did, I am pretty sure I would be happy no matter what ...
Mark - yes I know a few photogs who are pro-Nokia. I think Canon did better in the Gizmodo article I read and was cheaper so that's why I chose it. Plus I am not all pro, so I am easily pleased :P.
Kavisolo- I don't think I have turned my Macbook off for three years. That's taking care of it right?
Mark Sark - thanks for the links :0.
Dreaming big lady, I like it!
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya and the Aritzia gift certificates, me too love that place, I'm taking your thinking about pearl earrings, and re: the little Vaio, I'd thought about it too but recommend you try one out because when I did (at the mall) typing on that thing is a challenge, and my fingers are tiny.
I hope you get everything you want above shipped to you this season :)
Keri- thanks for the info on the Vaio, going to go check it out soon!
