Photo from Hairfinder.comWant shiny locks? Well yes of course you do . . . I have long, dark hair and I am obsessed with making it look as healthy and shiny as can be. Well, who doesn't want hair that looks like you stepped off of a Pantene commercial?
I use a serum in my hair, normally I use Biosilk Silk Therapy, but lately I have tried out drugstore brand John Frieda Collection's Frizz-Ease Hair Serum to great success. But with over-styling and using my flat iron too much, I have felt a little listless in my locks, and felt that I really needed a shine boost.
I have heard lots about getting a "gloss" at the salon for around $60, but to be perfectly honest, I can't be bothered to go to the salon - A, and B - I am still a student and can't justify spending the extra money right now.
So I found a great solution from Wish Magazine, oh about four years ago and have kept that clipping, and just got around to trying it. So here is the great at-home solution:
At Home: Try this “glazing” technique courtesy of Clairol Natural Instincts. It imparts a hint of colour and tons of shine:
- Buy a semi-permanent solution one shade lighter than your current colour.
- Mix 1/4 of the developer solution with an equal amount of shampoo in an empty applicator bottle.
- Add 1/4 of the colourant and shake well.
- Cover hair with solution, and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse.

I'm gonna try that.
ReplyDeleteI find my hair (otherwise healthy and nice enough) are super dry because well, the weather is dry in Ottawa. I use Bed Head products for a while, found them good. But expensive...
Yes I used Bed Head's "Dumb Blonde" conditioner before which worked well when I fried my hair once by highlighting it in blonde, yes, blonde. It was scary and lasted all of three weeks but anyhow let me know how it turns out! I think you will be happy with the results :).
