It was kind of like apple pop, yummm, perfect for those days when you're at the cottage, the lake, or even a backyard barbecue. Or for days like today when you just have cabin fever and wish you were at the cottage.
Waupoos Cider is made in Prince Edward County, which is about 200 kilometers east of Toronto. It is made by the County Cider company, which is not Native owned, they just happened to have a Native on their Waupoos Cider logo. They are located in Marysburgh, a place founded by a group of disbanded German mercenaries. In 1784 they began to "clear and cultivate the land." Their website states that "from the first blossoms in spring through the chilly winter months we carefully nurture our orchards, taking full advantage of the County's native assets."
Hmm . . . well I say take advantage of their yummy cider this summer (available at the LCBO) and be sure to keep it in the cool bottle this time 'round.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the County's wares, Urban Native Girl - you might like my County newsmakers blog, too, at http://jenniferlester.ca - and may even add your voice to the dialogue happening around the bridge protests at Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory...
ReplyDeleteJennifer - your County looks mighty cute - I hope to visit it one day :).
