My oh my, Podesmki's in Amoi

Strolling the magazine racks at Shoppers Drug Mart yesterday I came across a new magazine called Amoi Magazine, a new Canadian culture and lifestyle magazine that reflects diversity. I am always excited to see a new magazine on the stands that offers an alternative to our usual fare, so I picked it up and flipped through it.

I came across Salteaux actor/producer Jennifer Podemski's bright, smiling face on one of the pages. It is a brief bio covering her recent accomplishments, most notably the operating of her own production company Redcloud Studios. She tells Cree writer Melanie Florence that her greatest desire is to help out others and her community.

"There are people out there who are dying to learn and just need the chance and the opportunity," Podemski tells Florence in Amoi Magazine. "I do my best to seek them out and provide them with the opportunity to get to the next level or take the next step."

And that she does. Just a few months back after coming across my blog when I wrote about her partner, Plex, she helped me land one of the biggest auditions of my life in NYC. I am so grateful to her for her that opportunity, and she is truly one of those inspiring people who practices what they preach. She has also propeled me to give more back to the community and to lend a hand in whatever way that I can (like posting the Eclipse audition info yesterday) because what goes around truly does comes around.
