Lash Envy

I have been thinking a lot of how to get fun, flirty lashes that are always long, luscious and camera-ready.

I have tried the Ardell DuraLash Natural single fake eyelashes many times over the past few years but always find that they take so long to apply and inevitably fall off in 1 - 3 days (despite using Ardell LashTite adhesive, which is supposed to last for weeks). When I have continued to re-apply them to keep the lashes longer than a weekend, I found that my real eyelashes were coming off along with them. Apparently I am supposed to get a eyelash glue remover especially for this but eventually they would just kind of fall off anyways. I found this works okay for one night of fun, but needs to be replenished to continue on past the one-night stand. Lengthening and difficult.

Lancome Definicils is my favorite mascara. It gives me long, lean lashes like Twiggy that are always perfectly separated and feel fresh and appropriate any time of the day. Lengthening and separating.
I have read so many reviews of Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara and have heard some make up artists swearing by it over the years last year I finally gave in and bought a tube (I was probably also low on funds and the $20+ price tag on my fave may have seemed steep). I found it ineffective, totally clumpy and not lengthening at all. Thickening and clumping.
A few months back I went into a Shopper's Drug Mart that didn't carry Lancome products, so the salesperson led me to L'Oreal's Clean Definition Telescopic Mascara which I find quite amazing. At around $10 you get long, luscious, thick lashes that look gorgeous. The only drawback is that is can be clumping. Lengthening and clumping.

Word-of-mouth marketing company Matchstick sent me a L'Oreal package a few weeks back including this L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara to test out. The deal is you put on the white 'mascara' first which coats your lashes in little tubes and then use the dark side to then coat again. The result is longish, kind of clumpy lashes that you can rinse off easily at the end of the day (or night). I am into it because it is a good everyday mascara when I am off to do errands or run around on campus and don't want to deal with the hassle of removing dark mascara later on. Lengthening and clumpy.

I am still left in lash lust. Now I am seriously considering eyelash extensions which are a little costly (about $150) for a set which lasts about four weeks, after that you can get refills, or touch ups to keep up the high maintenance lashes. I found this place in Toronto that looks reputable and has a great website. In Vancouver Globe & Mail just did an article and lists a place that does the extensions for only $60! Well that practically sounds like a bargain, perhaps I can still book an appointment while I am in that fine city next week.

  1. I love lashes and have been blessed with relatively decent lashes...thank you mommy!
My fave mascara is pretty easy on the pocket Super Shock by Avon ( I think that's the name)

  3. I sware by Ardell lashes but the full ones eitehr 110 or 109 for a natural look. It takes a little practice but you will eventually get the hang of it or ask someone who knows what they are doing to help you out. People cannot tell they are fake until they ask!

  4. Braided Diva- Avon who knew? Time to check it out too and add it to the list (I may have to redo)

Kavisolo- If the price is less than $150, I am in!

Victoria- Yes I do love them and have had MUA friends apply them for me and show me but I am dense somehow when it comes to them. They do look and feel great though :).

Try DUO adhesive! I love it. I got mine over @ MAC but you could probably find it somewhere cheaper. It stays waaay longer than the adhesive that comes with falsies :)
