Tonight I decided to stay in with some movies and chocolate. I chose Vicky Christina Barcelona and Mata Hari to watch.
Mata Hari was sorely disappointing, it didn't live up to my expectations of Garbo or the allure of female espionage. I did think of Garbo and why she is so enticing to me, and I realized that I have visited her before on this blog, almost a year ago.
It was during a time when I had to hide from the world due to my insane love affair with procastination and an immense amount of schoolwork. Tonight I was also hiding. I was hiding from having to step out into Toronto nightlife with a plastered smile on my face. I just wasn't feeling up to socializing and mingling without many martinis.
Garbo has recluse qualities too. Except for the very beginning of her career, she shunned the public eye. I guess tonight I was just summoning up the Garbo energy, but only just for one night.

Garbo definitely has a cool aloofness to her. My favorite nightlife activity is to go to concerts. So if they're aren't any good bands coming to town I have to do something else. Movies, play rock band, that kind of stuff. But I do value my alone time. I get to work on my screenplays and be creative. Sunday evenings are usually laid-back for me.
ReplyDeleteNice, I love concerts too but need to make more of an effort to buy tickets in advance. I go out of town one weekend a month now so I guess I put more of my energy (read finances) into that now. I did get a lot of work done on Saturday night so it was well worth it :).
