The breakup diet

I have lost about 13 lbs. in the past month and a half. Is it my new diet, my new eating regime, my working out frenetically? None of the above. I went through a breakup.

At first I wasn't physically able to eat, I had butterflies in my stomach and was just feeling generally a little shaken and stirred (sans vodka). That lasted about one and a half weeks, 7 lbs. check. Then I moved into a new place and hadn't gone grocery shopping. Nor do I actually cook. 6 lbs. check.

In fact, my ex was a great cook. He had a huge breakfast (eggs, grits, bacon) ready for me every morning no matter how late I was running to work. When I got home there was always a large meal consisting of 90% meat ready at the dinner table. This all sounds beautiful and good, which it was, but when I am left to my own devices I just don't eat all that much.

Pre-ex I was about 3 lbs. lighter than I am now, so I gained a ton of weight during the relationship. I think that there were elements of having a lack of energy that also contributed to this weight gain. Sometimes when you are emotionally blocked or stagnant it is easy to let thing go to the wayside (or waist side). So that paired with over-eating all of the meals prepared for me every day led to a weight gain.

I wasn't huge by any means, a size 6-8, instead of a 2, so it wasn't that dramatic, in fact some people haven't even noticed the weight loss. So every day I am thankful to be able to fit into those Rock & Republic size 26 jeans, and have my lean body to wardrobe again. I will stick to my lean cuisine of home-made protein shakes, salads from Fresh, and the occasional sushi dinner. Soon it will be 3 lbs. check.
